About Ekvasa
How much does Ekvasa cost?
Every society is different, so we agree the plan with each committee one to one and put it in writing. Request onboarding and we will talk it through.
Can our society sign up by itself?
No. We set up every society ourselves with its committee, so the right people become its admins. Send a request and we will call you.
What does the name Ekvasa mean?
Ekvasa: from ek (one) and vāsa (home, dwelling). Many homes, one community.
Does Ekvasa show ads or sell our data?
We never sell your data or share it with advertisers, delivery apps, brokers or businesses listed in the app. Ekvasa shows nothing from outside businesses unless your society switches it on, and never in notifications, chats or society notices.
Which phones does it work on?
The Ekvasa app runs on Android phones. The society office also uses a web console in the browser.
Is it in Gujarati and Hindi?
Yes: every app screen, notification and bill or receipt PDF, in English, Gujarati or Hindi. The office’s web console is in English for now.
For the committee
Can we bring our existing records?
Yes. Your homes, residents, parking, vehicles, amenities, guards, opening dues and accounts come in from Excel, with a preview of every row before anything is saved.
What does onboarding involve?
A call, a demo for your committee, setting up with your own data, then going live: see How onboarding works.
Who holds the maintenance money?
The society. Residents pay into the society’s own account with any UPI app, or by cash, cheque or bank transfer recorded by the office. Ekvasa never holds the society’s money.
Can we get a refund?
No. Payments for Ekvasa, monthly or yearly, are not refundable. A society can stop Ekvasa at any time by writing to us; the service then ends with the period already paid, no invoice is issued after that, and nothing already paid is returned. Cancelling auto-pay on its own stops only the automatic debits. Only if Ekvasa finds a clear error, such as a payment taken twice, may it issue a refund; the society gets an email and the invoice becomes due again. See the refund and cancellation policy.
Can committee members see only what they need?
Yes. Treasurer, Helpdesk, Notices or Committee member roles, and where agreed your own, each see only their part; every change of role is recorded.
What if the gate loses internet?
The gate keeps working: entries wait on the phone and go through, with their true time, when the network is back.
For residents
What about residents without email or a smartphone?
The office can make a mobile-and-PIN login and print a sign-in sheet for every home, and anyone in the home with the app can answer the gate.
How do residents pay maintenance?
With the UPI link or QR on the bill, straight to the society’s account, then “I’ve paid”; the office confirms it and a receipt appears in the app.
Who can see my phone number?
In the members directory, you choose whether your number shows, or whether you are listed at all. The society office sees it as its role allows, the guard sees your home’s numbers to call when nobody answers in the app, and the Ekvasa team sees it only in a support session your admins are told about, or as part of your account when it looks up or fixes the account (every look is recorded). Two exceptions: Ekvasa’s text-message log shows the numbers its own texts went to, such as sign-in codes, and a police or court order goes through a separate, recorded legal process, never used for support.
How do I know a new version is out?
Ekvasa tells you itself. When a newer version is in your phone’s store, the app shows a short message with what is new and two buttons, Update and Later. You can also open Account, then Help and policies, then Update Ekvasa. If an old version can no longer work, the app asks you to update first, and SOS and the emergency numbers still work on that screen.
Privacy
Can the society office read our chats?
No. It sees a chat message only when someone in that chat reports it. The Ekvasa team reads no private chat either, except a message someone reports to Ekvasa (the app tells them first that it, with up to 2 messages before it, will be shared with Ekvasa), or under a lawful written order, through the process on Security and privacy.
Can the Ekvasa team see our society’s data?
Its day-to-day records, its members directory (as members see it) and its documents shelf only in a support session your admins are told about at once and can report. Looking up and fixing accounts is recorded too. It never reads private chats, except a message someone reports to Ekvasa, which the app tells them before they send the report, or under a lawful written order, which goes through a separate, recorded legal process, never used for support. How support sessions work.
Do you use fingerprints or face recognition?
No. A photo at the gate and a code are enough.
Where is our data stored?
In India, in Mumbai, on encrypted disks. A few services we use work outside India: push notifications pass through Google Firebase, WhatsApp messages (when switched on) go through Meta, and complaints are sorted by TypeSafe (privacy policy).
